King Richard III

On Sunday the 22nd of March 2015, Richard III's cortege toured Leicestershire before reaching his final resting place at Leicester Cathedral. Richard III died in 1485, he died in battle at the Battle of Bosworth Field in Leicestershire, in 2012 archaeological excavation on a city council car park that once was occupied by Greyfriars, Leicester, found the remains of a skeleton. The University of Leicester confirmed on 4 February 2013 that the skeleton found in the excavation was that of Richard III. After much debate as to where the late king should rest it was finally decided he would be reburied in Leicester, His body was processed to the cathedral on 22 March, to be reinterred on 26 March.
